[As a person who lives in the forest the lack of any signs of life is certainly... disturbing. It almost reminds of when the Withering was around, which thinking about now brings about a strange mix of emotions. The fact that for so much of his life the Withering (as well as Elezar) had always been such a huge concern for the people of Sumeru, but all it'd taken was two years and a bit since it's disappearance to feel it as nothing more than a fragment of a past. It's quite the reminder of exactly just how much has changed in his life in such a short period of time.
But with that being said, none of those things are actually relevant to what is going on now, so Alhaitham puts those thoughts aside for later, focusing back to the task at hand.
